NEW DATE ADDED!
Maria Callas, the legendary Opera star died on September 16th, 1977. With the 40th anniversary of her death approaching “CELEBRATING CALLAS” honours her legacy as one of the greatest performers of all time in a gala interpretation of her story at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, for another night, Sunday 22nd October 2017 due to overwhelming demand after the sold-out show on September 17th.
Written & produced by Niall Morris, “CELEBRATING CALLAS” is the most popular opera-themed show ever to be staged at the National Concert Hall, with an unprecedented run of 14 sold out performances over five years.
Playing Callas is the incredible Irish soprano Máire Flavin, regarded by many as the upcoming voice of her generation. Callas show producer & writer, Niall Morris said, “I saw Máire onstage in the Gaiety Theatre and I was struck by how much she resembled Maria Callas. Her physical appearance, dramatic intensity and her powerful voice had the audience enthralled. I immediately knew she would be perfect to play the title role in ” CELEBRATING CALLAS.”
The men in Callas life are played by the charismatic Irish baritone Gavan Ring and the brilliant UK tenor Alexander James Edwards who recently thrilled National Concert Hall audiences as Luciano Pavarotti in the hit show “Nessun Dorma.”
Tickets for “CELEBRATING CALLAS” are on sale now from the National Concert Hall box office on 01-417 0000 or online at http://www.nch.ie/
